All About Homeschooling
We’ve been homeschooling our children from the start of their educational journey. Home education enables us to tailor our children’s education to their learning styles and interests. It grants us the cherished family time and flexibility we value.
Beginning this journey may bring about feelings of fear, excitement, or freedom. Regardless of where you find yourself in the sea of emotions, take comfort in knowing that many other mothers share your experience. While here, I hope you find what you need!
First Things First
Let’s talk laws
The laws for homeschooling vary from state to state, so you will want to look up your state’s laws before doing anything else. You can find your state’s laws at https://hslda.org/legal. I would also highly recommend becoming a member of HSLDA! We have been members of them for years and are so thankful for how they fight for the freedom to homeschool. They provide a sense of security, along with updates concerning legislation, and different cases involving homeschool families throughout the country. Once you understand your laws, you can move forward with a better understanding of what is required of you and your children.

Know Your Why
your why will lead your homeschooling
What motivates your decision to embark on this path? I think it’s essential to understand your reason. Your motivations will serve as both a guide and an anchor as you navigate this journey. What outcome do you envision? Your vision may change through the years, but take the time to ponder these questions and solidify the purpose in your heart as you proceed. Perhaps, like us, you seek being more hands-on in your child’s education, increased freedom and flexibility, more family time, or the ability to customize your children’s education to their learning styles and interests. Whatever your reasons and desires, let them serve as your initial stepping stones in your homeschooling journey. These responses will also steer you toward the homeschooling approach that aligns best with your objectives.

Methods of Homeschooling
find the method that best fits you and your family
Your chosen homeschooling methods determine the educational approach you’ll take and the resources you’ll utilize. I’ve predominantly employed a Traditional method in our homeschooling journey. However, I’ve integrated elements of the Charlotte Mason and Classical approaches alongside my Traditional methods. This blend enables a more laid-back approach while incorporating a rich array of literature into our curriculum. You can find a breakdown of these different methods and resources for these methods at https://www.thehomeschoolmom.com/homeschooling-styles/
